Join us for the first ever joint production between Maplewood Barn Community Theatre & the Brick District Playhouse! Auditions will take place on Monday, November 18 and Tuesday, November 19 from 7-9pm at the Brick District Playhouse in Fulton.

Thought to be Wilde’s best work, The Importance of Being Earnest: A Trivial Comedy for Serious People, is a hilarious and poignant satire of Victorian era social hypocrisy. It’s the story of two bachelors, John ‘Jack’ Worthing and Algernon ‘Algy’ Moncrieff, who create alter egos named Ernest to escape their tiresome lives. They attempt to win the hearts of two women who, conveniently, claim to only love men called Ernest. The pair struggle to keep up with their own stories and become tangled in a tale of deception, disguise and misadventure. The elaborate plot ridicules Victorian sensibilities with some of the best loved, and indeed bizarre, characters to be found on the modern stage.

Should you have any questions, you may contact the director, Morgan Dennehy, at [email protected].
